Monday Monday Auto-FunDay 2.9.2009

The next Top Ten will be related somewhat to Girl Scout Badges. Seriously. Natalie and I had a big talk about it, we have lots of big talks 'cause our heads are overstuffed with nonsense. So I ordered the book from ebay and now I'm waiting. Clearly I'm very comfortable at the edge of my seat. That's where everything good is always just about to happen.

This is your last day to nominate me for The Lezzies. Haven't I been so lovely and not aggressive about it? Yes, yes I have. So please do nominate Autowin and/or Autostraddle for Best Personal Blog (or humor? or culture and entertainment? or the best overall?) and be sure to verify your vote by email. Don't stress if you don't know who to nominate for every category, just do the ones you know.
Quote: "I believed in a good home, in sane and sound living, in good food, good times, work, faith, and hope. I have allways believed in these things. It was with some amazement that I realized I was one of the few people in the world who really believed n these things without going arond making a dull middleclass philosophy out of it. I was suddeny left with nothing in my hands but a handful of crazy stars." (Jack Kerouac, On the Road: The Original Scroll)

Cause we *never* see anything about first boners, first wet dreams, none of that. Shame on the ladies for bringing up their private areas for public consumption.

Good thing Rabbit never jizzed in his eggs...

have i told you that i was a girl scout all through high school? meghan even fully got her gold award, we sold those cookies, went camping, got badges, put them on our vests/sashes/whateves. anytime i ever tell someone new about this, i always preface it by saying that it was cool in our school and that all my friends did it too, in a way that seems desperate and like i am defending something i'm not proud of doing. there are lots of things i'm not proud of, girl scouts is not one. probs my mom still has that book, you shouldn't have bought it off the bay. if you need help or a point of reference for the stt, just lemme knowwww.

Bah humbug to Girl Scout badges. I earned all of them up through Cadettes, and then figured out in Seniors that it just wasn't worth it. :P

I've heard TSS is a load of from my ex's therapist (who also specialized in sex therapy) at the time.
10 days is probs awful for every other reason besides TSS I think, cause, you know... it doesn't exist.

Also I love the "Stare at the monitor all day..." thing and I can't believe I've never seen it before. Where did you get it? It's perfect.

burningsteady: The article's actually not condeming at all -- it's pretty accepting and celebratory. I mean, I guess sensationalizing and trending it has its problems, but eh, I liked it. Not as much as I liked 10 days in the life of a tampon.

jersey Have you? I feel like you haven't. I find it hard to believe though that any cobblestone of our lives have gone unturned, but maybe they have. My Mom turned my Brownie sash into a like pillow that looks like a giant penis, do you remember seeing that? If your Mom has any brownie books hook it up. it was cool in my school too.

Bailey: What made you think it wasn't worth it? Didn't you have really amazing embroidery skills by that point?

Rachel: I think almost everything is a badge.

You should start with "new and selected poems" which has a fantastic retrospective on everything he did until like '96. That is an essential book I carry it with me everywhere. Then of his newer stuff, Loosestrife and The Insistence of Beauty are the best. Of his older stuff, most of the good parts are in New and Selected Poems, but if you can't find that, then get Between Angels and Different Hours.

Natalie Jonas: Eh, probs not. But you never know. I found recapping SON was slightly unrewarding since only a handful of people cared, and I might end up feeling that way about Sugar Rush too?

autumn m: you had a male friend in girl scouts? I feel like this doesn't fit in with any of the rest of the information I have about your town. did people make fun of him? this is amazing and I want to know more, like how did he get into girl scouts, etc.

laura: I'm listening to Bruises on repeat.

TSS is a lie, there's been like 2 recorded cases ever. I used to be really scared of it, like if I was gonan sleep more than eight hours, I'd wake up mid-sleep just to take care of that. See I can't even seem to talk about it using the actual words.

a;ex: FFFFFFOUND is where i found it. I like saying that. I think that it should link out to itself. I agree with what you said about TSS, also can't seem to type a response without addressing the sex therapist, so I'll just move on. FFFFOUNNDD!

Anonymous: Do you?
